Books for kids to prepare a trip to Switzerland
With this coronavirus pandemic travelling has become increasingly difficult but it is still a good idea to spend sometime with kids learning about different places around the world or simply preparing things for whenever it becomes easier to travel.
It may be a fun time spent with our kids that are being so patient with the restrictions and a way for them to realise that this is only temporary and we will go back to a more "normal" life. I believe it is a good activity I do with mine that helps them with the occasional negative feeling.
These are some of my recommendations:
1. Asterix in Switzerland by Goscinny and Uderzo. I do have to say, Asterix is always a good idea and not only for children ;-)
The governor of Gaul has always been a “creative” accountant. Now he’s under investigation by Vexatius Sinusititis—or he was, until someone poisons the investigator. In order to heal Vexatius, Asterix and Obelix set off to locate a special flower that grows only in Helvetia; an edelweiss. They will visit Geneva, swim in the lakes, climb mountains and even try fondue... all the things the little ones will like to do in Switzerland!!
2.- Dogs in the Dead of Night by Mary Pope Osborne. If your kids don't know this author or any of her series it is about time!! So exciting and focus to teach them a lot!
This is book 18 of the Magic Tree House (Merlin Missions) series. Beware of avalanches! When the magic tree house whisks Jack and Annie back in time to the highest pass in the Swiss Alps, they discover an ancient monastery filled with monks and Saint Bernard dogs. Annie can’t resist offering to train a wild young dog named Barry, but he is quite the handful! Before the night is over, Jack and Annie will be forced to use some crazy magic! (from Amazon)
